Latino Initiative 2014

The Latino Initiative is a unique program in our state and nation. During the spring of 2014, 14 community leaders from Mecklenburg and Union Counties traveled to Mexico City to study the culture, and assess the needs of Latinos in their own communities.

The experiences gained as a program participant give these individuals a deeper understanding of immigration issues. As a result, they were given the opportunity to influence local approaches to integrating Latinos into their communities. In bringing back knowledge and experiences to North Carolina, they will help prepare their professions and our state to succeed.

What participants learn, and more importantly share with others, is making a difference. The far-reaching impact of the Latino Initiative truly fosters understanding in our communities. Bravo and keep up the good work!
